Thursday Night Club Night
Every Thursday, 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
All 11 squash courts will be reserved for Club Night. This weekly event is sure to become a popular mainstay in our squash programming calendar. There is no need to sign up in advance, just turn up on the night, and have fun mixing in with some singles and doubles with as many players as possible. You can attend for the whole 90 minutes, or any part thereof. All levels are welcome. And every other week you can invite one guest along for free.

Mark Allen is an internationally renowned player and coach, whose credentials include a former top 50 world ranking, and certification as an England Squash Level 4 Elite Coach (the highest coaching qualification in English squash). During a coaching career spanning almost 20 years, Allen has coached professionally in England, The Channel Islands, Northern Virginia, San Francisco, and Cape Town, South Africa. He was nominated by US Squash to the National Olympic Committee as the 2005 National Coach of the Year, and was named the South African coach of the Year in 2005. In addition to coaching the squash teams at the University of Virginia, Allen is also director of Squash at Boar's Head Sports Club. He is married (to Tracy) with two children (Daniel and Jayden).

Dean Russell is originally from South Africa but he is pleased to now call Charlottesville home. He began his professional career in 2008, won a bronze at the Junior Under-19 National Tournament and was awarded Most Improved Player of the Year by Squash SA, all the while serving as head coach at the Christian Boys College. Two years later, just 21 years old, Dean accepted the position of Club Manager and Head Squash Pro at the Old Edwardian Club in Johannesburg, South Africa. After a stint in northwest England and London, he moved to the U.S. in 2012, where he served as Assistant Squash Pro at the Philadelphia Squash Club.
Dean has eight years coaching experience with juniors and adults of all levels from beginner to advanced players from across the globe and is a Level 2 England Squash Certified Coach. His high level of coaching, his ability to connect with players of all skill level and his professionalism make Dean a dynamic and sought after teacher. Dean is available for private lessons and junior and adult group clinics.
Grant White, Assistant Squash Coach to the Men's & Women's Squash Teams at UVa

Grant, a Charlottesville native, began his squash career twenty years ago right here at Boar’s Head Sport’s Club. And, now we welcome him to our squash coaching staff. As a junior player he was Virginia State Champion and at the collegiate level served as captain of the Bowdoin College squash team. Currently he coaches at Saint Anne’s-Belfield School and is an assistant coach for the UVa men’s and women’s teams. Grant is available for private lessons and junior and adult group clinics. Howard Day, Assistant Squash Professional

Howard is a squash pro with 35 years of experience! He has held head pro positions at the Berwyn Club in Philadelphia and the University Club of Washington D.C. Howard is now semi-retired and lives in Crozet; he works part time as a valuable member of our coaching staff at MSC. He can often be found down on courts #9 and 10, where he still plays a good game of doubles on either wall. In addition to administrating our weekly round robin event, he offers coaching assistance on several of our junior programs, and often plays host for us when we have visiting clubs.
Court Reservation Rules
MSC accepts court reservations. Our "TERMS AND POLICIES AGREEMENTS" MUST be completed/signed prior to ANY/ALL players taking the court (INCLUDES BOTH MEMBERS AND GUESTS). Please allow for 10 minutes to complete these forms on your first visit.
McArthur Squash Center Information
The 33,000-square-foot venue will significantly expand the squash program at the University, providing a new home for the sport, which is currently played at the club level. Additionally, the facility will be available to U.Va. faculty, staff and students through the Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports, as well as to members of the Boar's Head Sports Club and guests of the Boar's Head.
