Whether you choose private instruction or participating in a clinic, your golf game is sure to improve with some guidance from our staff.
Private Instruction
All private lessons include practice balls, loaner clubs (if needed) and instructional aids.
- Half-hour lesson - $40
- Series of three lessons - $100
- Series of six lessons - $185
- Half-hour junior lesson (ages 16 and under) - $25
- One-hour video lesson - $90
Playing Lessons
Register for nine hole on-course instruction with a Birdwood Academy Professional. The cost is $125 per lesson and includes workbook and evaluation sheet.
Group Instruction
Introduction to Golf 101
This course covers set-up, putting, chipping, full swing, basic rules, and etiquette for new golfers. The cost is $85 for four one-hour classes and includes a work manual, practice balls and loaner clubs.
Intermediate Golf 201
Players of all skill levels can benefit from this course covering putting, chipping, pitching, sand play and full swing. The cost is $100 for four 75-minute classes and includes work manual, practice balls and loaner clubs.
Graduate School
This course presents a more challenging curriculum for advanced players. Instruction includes uneven lies and trouble shots, sand play and short-game review. The cost is $100 for four 75-minute classes and includes practice balls and a work manual.

Junior Golf Academy
Young golfers learn the fundamentals of the game in this week-long camp...rain or shine! Instruction covers set-up, full swing, putting, chipping, sand play, basic rules of the game, and etiquette. Two sections, one for ages 6-10 and one for ages 11 and up.
Proper golf attire is required. Soft spike shoes or tennis shoes only.
$95 per five-class session for members; $115 for non-members.

Head Professional Martin Winters is a graduate of the University of Virginia and has been at Birdwood since 1994. Martin is a PGA Professional and enthusiastic advocate of the game, with energy and experience that make him an extremely talented teacher.

Assistant Professional and PGA Apprentice Michael Starr's teaching ability reflects his dedication to the game of golf. Michael is in his first year as a Birdwood Academy Instructor and is an extremely talented player and teacher.
