2016 Festival of Squash
September 14-18, 2016

Charlottesville, VA – August 19, 2016:  Once again McArthur Squash Center at Boar’s Head Sports Club will host some of the world’s best professional squash players. The Festival’s first three years have been a huge hit with pro players, amateur players, Boar's Head Sports Club members, and squash fans all over the world, and this year promises to be even better.  Join us at McArthur Squash Center (MSC) September 14-18 for our fourth Festival of Squash. As always, entry for spectators is free all weekend and the tournament organizers welcome new fans along with longstanding boosters.

This year’s Festival of Squash is an event in aid of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge and the net proceeds will benefit this local charity. This event is actively seeking event patrons, and the minimum pledge required to join our Tournament Support Program is just $250. For further information on how you can provide financial support to the tournament and in turn to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge, click here, or contact Mark Allen, Director of Squash at 434-972-7424 or email him at mark_allen@boarsheadinn.com.

Our Festival of Squash features four phenomenal tournaments running simultaneously:

Harrow PSA Tournament Preview:
September 14-17, 2016
Entry to our PSA event closed August 4 and the draw is now published at PSAWorldTour.com.  Download a printable PDF copy by clicking here.
Our number 1 and number 2 seeds are last year's finalists, Steve Coppinger (currently ranked world #24) and Ryan Cuskelly (currently ranked world #16).

In last year’s final Coppinger was the victor by a 3-0 scoreline, but since then Cuskelly has been the more dominant player on the PSA world tour, resulting in a climb to #16 on the December 2015 world rankings - his highest world ranking to date.

Both athletes will see stiff competition on their way to the final. Cuskelly is in the top half of the draw which includes World Junior Champion, Diego Elias of Peru. In the bottom half in the second round Coppinger could find himself up against Abdullah Mohd Al Tamimi, the youngster from Qatar that set our glass court alight in our inaugural 2013 event. Alternatively, Coppinger could play our 2014 champion Alister Walker. The first round matchup between Tamimi and Walker looks to be one of our most exciting first round matches and is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14th at 1:00pm.
