"Great Family Vacation...Visiting Charlottesville with little kids to show them alma mater and give them a taste of UVA. Kids loved getting back to the Boar's Head every day for basketball, climbing wall and tennis. Really comfortable and spacious rooms. Beautiful grounds."

"One of the Best Dinners Ever. What a beautiful room with such friendly and attentive service. I tried the appetizer Macaroni and Cheese and it was so delicious. I chose the Rock Fish entree and it was so well prepared. This is a place with delicious food, great service and a beautiful and serene environment which adds to a wonderful evening. I will definitely return."

"Experience the Virginia I remember as a Child...I stayed in a room with a balcony over the lake in the Main Inn. I had not stayed at Boars Head in probably 20 years, and it felt like coming home! I grew up in Virginia, went to UVA for college, and spent my youth on school trips to Williamsburg and Monticello. There is a "Virginia feel" to those places that is replicated perfectly at Boars Head. The subtle elegance, the architecture, the lighting - this is Virginia in the way I hope everyone gets to experience it. I only wish I had had more time to relax and enjoy my stay.

Sunday Brunch..."This is a rare treat. The setting is elegant, variety, quantity and quality of food is outstanding -- omelets are "to die for", roast beef is superb, desserts are heavenly! And, the service is wonderful!"

"Amazing Inn and Spa...The Boar's Head is a jewel in Charlottesville! Every staff member we met was very friendly and helpful...Can't wait to stay here again!"

"Winter Wonderland...Great place to stay right before Christmas. The decorations are spectacular and very festive. Afternoon tea by the fireside is a plus as are the walking trails over the property. Rooms are modern, clean and one can reach the main building through clearly posted signage without having to go outside too much. Nice big mugs are provided for morning coffee which is set up in the lounge."

"Business Meeting at Country Inn...Scheduled the last of a series of business planning meetings with a group of 20 at the Boar's Head Inn. Meeting held Mon-Tues of Thanksgiving week. With all the holiday decorations in place it was a great atmosphere for our meeting. Top notch facilities at the Ednam Conference Center. Free WiFi a plus. Conference staff were very helpful and solicitous throughout the process. Event included private dinner in Board Room, with breakfast and lunch in the main dining Old Mill Room. Food quality was excellent at every turn. Accommodations were excellent. Rooms well appointed and recently modernized. This venue received strong praise from our entire group!"

We asked the Boar's Head if they had a 220 charger to charge our Tesla and they said yes.  Well, it turned out it was a 110 outlet and didn't charge the car enough. They went to the trouble of getting an electrician and putting in a correct plug so that we could charge the car.  I have to say the amount of effort they went to in order to accommodate us was extraordinary.  The hotel is our favorite place to stay when visiting our son at UVA.  It is the most beautiful and authentic historic inn in the area.  The food is superb and the rooms are lovely.  I highly recommend the Boar's Head."

"...the fireplace was amazing and perfect for a romantic getaway. We had some snacks at the bar, service was impeccable...I've returned a couple of times since and will continue to do so!"

"The weekend brunch is amazing, I come here once in a while when I want to indulge in every quality brunch food. Custom made omelets fresh fruit and more sausage and bacon you could eat in a week. Great posh atmosphere, exceptional service and staff."

"The Boars Head is truly what Virginia is all about, Clean, quiet and pristine; a place for to escape with the family for a few days of luxurious peace and quiet. The staff are excellent as well as the accommodations and food and beverage options. As a hospitality professional I would place the Boars Head Inn at the very top of the must see (and stay) list in Virginia!"

"We celebrated our anniversary at your Inn. The delivery of a half dozen chocolate covered strawberries and cookies and candies for 2 was such a nice touch. PLUS the glass of complimentary champagne at dinner. Your complimentary afternoon tea is so welcome. Your pastry chef is great."

"Rob in the Sports Center was great - very friendly when my daughter wanted to try rock wall and suggested a great hike for us."

"Jeffrey at the Spa was absolutely terrific. My wife has enjoyed spa services from Pittsburgh to Palm Beach. She said Jeffrey topped them all. Also the evening staff at the Old Mill Room was great."

"Wendy Baldwin is so wonderful to work with in planning our quarterly meeting. I have really enjoyed getting to know her, as you are very lucky to have such a great planner."

"Andrea Barnhart was exceptional, absolutely exceptional to work with. Every single question and request that I had, she very eagerly and efficiently took care of. I would plan another group trip in a heartbeat if I was able to work with her again. She made the entire process so easy and stress-free!!!"

"Brenda - Server in the Old Mill Room. We dined in Old Mill Room under the DATE NIGHT PACKAGE. We ordered a beginning, a second, and an entree. Brenda later returned a stated that we had a choice of a beginning or a second, but not both under the package. She suggested that we opt for the Quail and the Scallops instead of the soups (which was an excellent suggestion). Brenda went a step further and offered us "tastings" of the soups we ordered, but could not get under the package. She was absolutely wonderful! A real asset to your company."

"Just when I think the staff can do nothing more to make my stay such a memorable visit, they prove me wrong. Beyond a doubt, they are the best at what they do, the very best. I have travelled nearly around the world in my lifetime, and stayed at many fine inns and hotels, but the Boar's Head is in a league of its own. And the one central ingredient that makes it so special is its people. It may sound like an overworked cliche, but in many ways, perhaps the most important ways, when I visit you, I feel as though I'm one of the family, that I've finally "come home" again. I cannot tell you how very rich, how important that makes me feel. And I am exceedingly grateful for that.

Each time I leave your beautiful grounds, I begin planning for my next visit. In the meantime, please convey to your entire staff how very grateful I am for their superlative service."

"I wanted to express my immense satisfaction with the totality of my stay at The Boar's Head. Be it the courteous staff; extremely comfortable accommodations; pleasing/beautiful surrounding's; exceptional cuisine, or the complete attention to detail, I could not be happier and more satisfied. It truly seems as though everything has been thought of and with the client/guest in mind. Even the Front Desk hostess asked if she could help me, thinking my request for a survey was a possible concern -- that's responsiveness: she wanted to address any issue. Again, my sincere thanks to the entire hotel complex staff -- this has been one (if not THE) of my most enjoyable away-from-home experiences. Thank you!"

"I have held this event for many years at different locations in Richmond. I thought we had received "top notch" service in the past, but it paled in comparison to the Boar's Head. I could not provide your staff with a single constructive criticism if I wanted to. Every detail was thought through and that allowed our event to run smoothly. I would like to provide a special comment about the staff at The Boar's Head. I did not come in contact with one person at the resort who did not have a friendly demeanor. Everyone on The Boar's Head staff went above and beyond to make sure that my guests and I were all completely cared for."

Our visit was ideal in many parts--not because of the Inn's proximity to Charlottesville--but instead because of the Inn. The grounds and accommodations inspire relaxing and enjoying the company of the person you are with: Always, a coveted moment for a mother and her girl."

"The major snowstorm that arrived made a busy meeting more challenging, but your team seemed to adapt beautifully, always keeping the guest perspective in the forefront....From my standpoint, your diligence in responding to emails and calls, to resolve  the many room, meal, transportation, and meeting room changes we had was gratifying beyond words."

"The problem with using The Boar's Head for a weekend in Charlottesville is that it is so beautiful and luxurious and has so many activities that you may not leave the grounds until it's time to go home ... you will feel you are staying at a country estate in the mountains."

"The moment we walk in the door, I know that every detail of our meeting would be perfect. Truly one of the loveliest country inns in Virginia, the hotel is also a superb meeting venue. No wonder the VCTA returns to The Boars Head every one treats us better!"

"I recently organized a five-day meeting/retreat at the Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville. The group really enjoyed their time there and found it the perfect environment for both productivity and relaxation. They started each morning at the fitness center, then on to our meetings, a quick lunch time swim break and we ended each day with a lovely walk around the pond together. The suites were spacious and comfortable. Two women had massages at the spa which they loved. By the end of the week we were all addicted to the mango smoothies at the Sports Club Café. I think the atmosphere works really well for this kind of thing. I would highly recommend it.

"My fiancé and I are residents of Alexandria, VA and are frequent visitors to the Boar's Head. Charlottesville has an unmatched spirit with historic charm. From its vineyards to its history to its Jeffersonian architecture, it's a part of America that has escaped the ills of sprawl and to a certain degree progress. True to our agrarian roots, Charlottesville, VA boasts rolling farms and beautiful mountains. And there's no better place to stay than the Boar's Head Inn. This charming lodge captures all of what Charlottesville has to offer. There's no better place to lie your head after a day of vineyard hopping and fine dining on the Downtown Mall.

On behalf of myself and the Executive Board of VaSHHRA, please accept a hearty THANK YOU for the fantastic accommodations and star customer service treatment we received.  The staff at Boar's Head Inn was A #1.  You were very easy to work with in every aspect since I first contact you. The business center, front desk personnel, and our personal servers were more than willing and able to not only meet our needs but anticipate them!

Our reception was exquisitely done, with amazing food, decor, and ambiance. The small details that The Boar's Head staff paid attention to during our planning and wedding day made it so lovely; it was a great reminder that a wedding is a truly happy event.
- Diana Kim, Boar's Head Bride

Everyone loved the food and everyone was just so impressed with the atmosphere. You made our day more special than we could have ever dreamed! You were incredible every step of the way and your vision and eye for detail is amazing. We were so impressed and will definitely have to find another occasion to have another get together at The Boar's Head.

"When I was looking for that special place to propose to my wife, I chose the Boar's Head.  The accommodations were perfect, the service impeccable and she said 'yes'!  Now, ten happily-married years later we still talk about that weekend at the Boar's Head and how I proposed in the hot air balloon!"
Dennis Flannery, Bon Air, VA

We chose The Boar's Head not just for its awesome natural beauty and wonderful services, but also because of the way we were treated. The coordination and planning of our wedding day were so far beyond our wildest imaginings....the English language doesn't have the words to describe it.
- Elizabeth Zacharias Owens, Boar's Head Bride

When you have all of the ingredients, delicious food that is presented so well, lovely setting and a pleasant and hardworking staff, it is hard to understand why people would go elsewhere."

Our ceremony at The Boar's Head was set right next to the lake, which was a perfect combination of the rustic atmosphere we wanted with the wonderful accommodations that we needed. We couldn't have asked for a more romantic and intimate setting to start our lives together.

We spent two days being pampered. We had several massages, exfoliating body scrubs and facials and a mani/pedi. The staff was wonderfully capable and did not talk unless we initiated the conversation. The potions they used on us made us glow and feel soft and the wonderful aromas made us feel happy. We stayed in the little blue house off the main hotel. Our room had a little terrace overlooking the spa and the lake. The beds and pillows were comfortable; we woke refreshed and happy.

... Now I can add Charlottesville to my list of global spa venues. To be quite honest, my visit at Boar's Head trumps all my other experiences... I thought I would do a man's review of a spa in Cville and be very macho about it...Having read the Dream Massage description in the quite room, I expected an oil-based massage...Instead, [he] gave me what I preferred. To my surprise and good fortune, [he] turned out to be very knowledgeable with sports and rehabilitative massage. What happened for the next 60 minutes was deep tissue bliss accented by undertones of pain (the good kind). [He] managed to find tiny muscles in my upper back that I had never heard of (he explained every one of them, their purpose, and which ones are used in my martial arts training). I think every man should plan at least one of these types of treatments a month... And ladies, if your boyfriend's, fiance's or husband's birthday is coming up, consider this experience to be just as good, if not better, than any other present. We might go in kicking and screaming, but I guarantee we will brag about our experience for months after being pampered like this.
